IPL Photo Rejuvenation

LASTING RESULTS

IPL Photo Rejuvenation

Our Lumenis IPL™ treatment is a light-based therapy, not a laser-based one, that does more than gently and effectively reduce age spots while improving the tone and appearance of sun damaged skin. This photo rejuvenation treatment also stimulates the natural production of collagen within the body, which is so important for firm and youthful-looking skin.

What is Lumenis IPL treatment?

Lumenis IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a light-based and non-invasive treatment sometimes referred to as ‘IPL photofacial’ or ‘IPL photo rejuvenation’.

This technology uses filters to produce intense pulses of specific wavelengths of light energy to penetrate skin tissue and create heat, targeting age spots, sun damage and skin damage in a highly controlled way.

The body’s natural processes remove the tissue targeted for noticeable improvements in skin tone and overall skin appearance. Because IPL photo rejuvenation also stimulates collagen in your skin, results continue to improve over time.

What can Lumenis IPL treatment be used for?

The Lumenis IPL Photo rejuvenation treatment has a range of uses and can alleviate a broad range of skin conditions, from hyperpigmentation and vascular issues like thread veins to minimizing the appearance of sun spots and fine lines.

It can help patients to effectively treat skin conditions like redness and rosacea across the face and body, regardless of their skin type.  Patients can achieve a more luminous, balanced and brighter complexion thanks to its ability to enhance the appearance of damaged or pigmented skin.

Its collagen-stimulating properties can also help to rejuvenate the skin by bringing back its firmness and structure. It can also be used as an effective treatment to minimize the appearance of shallow thread veins by using its intense light energy to close up damaged vein walls while causing pooled blood to disperse and fade. This helps patients to get rid of thread veins without any invasive surgery or downtime.

How soon will I notice results?

The Lumenis IPL photo rejuvenation treatment removes skin imperfections and stimulates collagen and elastin production over several treatments. Some skin problems such as shallow pigmentation and age spots or sun spots may only need 1-2 intense pulsed light treatments, with the best results usually obtained after 2-6 sessions with 2-4 weeks in between.

With IPL hair removal, much of the treated hair will be wiped away at the time of treatment with any remaining hair in the treated area falling out within a week or two. Again, a course of IPL treatments may be required. Your medical practitioner will give you all the advice you need.

How long does Lumenis IPL photo rejuvenation treatment last?

Due to the stimulation of collagen, skin improvement is gradual over time with long-lasting results.

What should I expect?

A patch test will be performed at your initial consultation to determine skin suitability and maximize results. A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated and patients are given special dark glasses or googles to wear while the pulses of light are applied.

Each IPL photo rejuvenation treatment takes about 20 minutes. The number of Lumenis IPL treatments required will vary from patient to patient but your medical practitioner will discuss a bespoke treatment plan with you.

Is there any downtime?

There is little to no downtime and you can resume your normal activities after treatment.

I’m interested in having Lumenis IPL treatment but will it hurt?

Many people find their procedure at The Fantazia Aesthetics more comfortable than expected. Our medical practitioners are highly skilled and precise.

The treatment is gentle and the only sensation you will expect is a slight ‘stinging’ when the pulses of light are applied. You may experience some redness after IPL treatment but this should disappear within a few hours and you can usually apply makeup right away.

If you have been on holiday at least 3 weeks prior to having IPL treatment or going into the sun within the 3 weeks following the treatment, we recommend you apply sun screen of at least SPF50. Your practitioner will advise you.
